Terry M. Kurt

Biography

I have practiced law for over 29 years. My legal career began working for a small insurance defense firm across from the Daley Center in Chicago after graduating from John Marshall. I then moved to Galena, Illinois and became a member and then partner of the law firm Nack, Richardson and Kurt for 15 years. In 2004 and again in 2008, I was elected to the office of State’s Attorney of Jo Daviess County. In 2012, I joined the law firm of Hammer, Simon and Jensen. And in August of 2016, my partners Sue Hess and Colista Anglese started the Hammer Law Firm.

My practice is primarily focused on criminal defense, personal injury and municipal law. Currently our firm represents the City of East Dubuque, and the Villages of Scales Mound and Elizabeth.

When I am not practicing law, I enjoy spending time with my wife Heidi and our six children, Lily, Izzy, Amy, Isaac, Aiden and Liam. I enjoy pheasant hunting with my brothers and my yellow lab Odie, playing golf and swimming at the local pool in Galena. I have rode in parts of over 25 RAGBRAI’s, completed 3 marathons and 9 Birkiebeiner ski races.

I am an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan.
